This privacy policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit this website. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and – where applicable – the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Principles

No registration is required. We do not use web analytics tracking. Your search queries (place, coordinates, travel period) are only used to determine the weather data and are not linked to your person.

3. Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit the site, technically necessary data is processed (IP address, date/time, URL, browser type, referrer). This data serves the secure and stable operation (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is deleted by the provider after a short time. The provider is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its Swiss extension; standard contractual clauses are also in place.

4. Cache and abuse protection

To limit costs and prevent abuse, we store retrieved weather data (without personal reference) and request counters in a database operated by Upstash, Inc. (region as configured, e.g. EU). For the counters your IP address is only used as an irreversible hash and deleted after at most 25 hours.

5. Weather and geodata services

Requests to weather and geodata services (depending on configuration Visual Crossing Corporation, USA; NASA POWER and NOAA CoastWatch ERDDAP, USA; Photon / komoot, Germany; Open-Meteo, Switzerland; Copernicus Marine Service, France) are made exclusively by our server. Only the search term or coordinates and dates are transmitted – not your IP address.

6. Local storage in your browser

Your recent searches and your cookie choice are only stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and are not transmitted to us. You can delete this data at any time in your browser settings. The installable app (PWA) stores pages and results you viewed in the browser cache for offline use.

7. Advertising (Google AdSense)

Currently no ads are shown and no advertising cookies are set.

8. Partner links (affiliate)

Currently no partner links are used.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. Please contact us at the address above. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority – in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the authority of your country of residence.
